Meritorious Sergeant Promotion Pictures

Actually we posted the pictures from the ceremony onto my Facebook profile page. There were quite a few of  them, and it was easier to download them on there. So please check them out when you get the chance! :)

I will say a couple of things about the day...it was VERY HOT! Not a big shocker, but I figured I'd be okay standing out there at 9a.m. Let's just say by the end of the ceremony, everyone was dripping with sweat-which is quite common here on Okinawa. Oh and I didn't know until today, but I guess that the competition for Sergeant was pretty steep; Kyle went up against about 22 other outstanding Marines from Division which is basically the highest level. In no way do I say this to put my husband on some kind of pedestal, and not that I should be surprised that Kyle won and was selected- we all know he is a hard worker and does everything to the best of his ability and generally goes above and beyond in any area of life. But really, we just thank God for this opportunity and give HIM all the praise. He really does reward those that are faithful. And I believe God has tremendously blessed Kyle in the Marine Corps especially with everything Kyle has to put up with. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!

Funny story real quick... while the Colonel was giving a speech and all the Marines were standing around in formation being very still and standing at attention, a June Bug all of a sudden flies out of nowhere and decides to fly right into my face!! It was SO embarrasing! So picture everyone being really still and proper and then me off to the side looking like I'm having some kind of panic attack trying to swat away a June Bug. UGH! It almost looked like when you walk into a spider web that nobody sees except for yourself... you know what I mean... and you go crazy trying to get the web off of you. That's how I felt. And of course, the June Bug would NOT GO AWAY. I would swat at it then it would fly back into my face and into my hair. There were a bunch of officers and SNCO's standing behind me and I could tell they were all trying to keep a straight face. I know people were wondering what was wrong with the big ol' pregnant lady. All I could do was laugh and think to myself... really?!? why does stuff like this happen to me?! Good times.
