Isaiah Jackson Mills

He's here! Born on August 24, 2010 at 12:14am. He was 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and 21 and ¾ inches long. What an amazing blessing from the Lord!

The events leading up to the birth (picking up a little after I left off before):

Joy was dilated at 9cm at about 4pm on Monday. So the nurse gave her a little bit more time to get ready to push, and then Joy pushed for a little while in between 4 and 5. Isaiah wasn't having any of it, so they decided to wait some more to see if the cervix opened up any more. At about 7:30 or so, they decided it was time to start pushing. Joy impressively pushed for 2 hours, but Isaiah (or is head) was having trouble getting thru the birth canal. At this point Joy was seriously exhausted, having already been in the hospital at varying stages of labor for over 24 hours, let alone having not eaten anything since Sunday. So they decided to take a break.

The next plan of attack was to attempt an 'assisted' birth, by having the doctor put a vacuum on Isaiah's head while Joy pushed, to get him to come out. So while the staff was getting all the materials ready for that course of action, Joy got some much needed rest and recoup time. If the assisted birth did not work, then the last option was to do a c-section.

At approximately 0000, August 24, Joy started pushing one more time with the doctor helping guide Isaiah's head out of the birth canal. In her third set of contractions, Isaiah came out! And that was at 0014. PRAISE THE LORD!

So he had to get cleaned up a bit, because he had pooped in the womb prior to delivery, so he had miconium (sp?) all up in his orifices. But wow, what a beautiful baby. He has his mommy's nose and his daddy's eyes. :)

Praise God for:
Answered prayer in that Joy did NOT have to get a c-section
Answered prayer because the baby and Joy were both completely healthy throughout the entire ordeal
Answered prayer for no complications during delivery
Wonderful, supportive friends who were there to pray for Joy in the waiting room as she was delivering Isaiah

Please continue to pray for:
Joy's recovery. She lost a good amount of blood and tore pretty significantly.

Thank you all for keeping up with the news, we are very blessed by your friendships. More pictures will be coming, Facebook might be a good place to keep an eye out for them. ;)

Grateful,
Kyle
