Anyhoo, I also had my interview last week at the School Age Care Program, and honestly I'm not sure that is something I could do full time. Since it is a before and after school care program, I would have to be there every day of the week as early as 4:30am til about 9am and then come back around noon and work til 6pm. Though the money would have been nice, I could see a person getting burnt out with that real easy. I walked into the building before my interview and could already feel the high stress levels coming from the workers and it was only 8 in the morning. I told my interviewers I had a commitment at my church on Thursday mornings so I probably wouldn't be able to work every single Thursday. Well, they assured me I'd be working every single Thursday. They really wanted to hire me (I'm sure you could imagine why, seeing's how the position is constantly open and they are always looking for workers....) but, I thanked them for their time and told them I'd have to pass. Do you think I'm being too picky?
After my interview there, I decided to walk down to the elementary school on our base and ask for an application for substitute teaching. The lady at the main office informed me that they would have to e-mail me the application and I could print and fill it out at home. So, I get home and pull up the application on my computer and find out that the application is 66 pages long! Ah, gotta love government paperwork, right? :) So, I've embarked on my new journey of filling out my 66 page application. Hopefully I'll get it done soon. *sigh*
In other news, ESL class started today! It was a really fun time. We ended up only having 7 students sign up after 2000 fliers were passed out! Hmmm... we might need to see about other options as far as advertisement goes. But, 7 is a good number and God knows what we can handle. Today was more of an introductory day. I had the Japanese students fill out questionnaires and had the teachers asked them questions to get to know them better and see how their English was. The majority of the students can speak some English, just not well. So after the assessments, we had coffee and donuts and then had a Bible study from the pastor and sang a couple of songs. They love to sing. Karaoke, by the way, is big deal here on the island- of course we didn't karaoke at church- that would have been a bit awkward. Haha. But, they really do enjoy singing, which is good. It was encouraging to see students come out and I'm excited about this semester.

Unemployed....I'm sure there's some sort of government bail-out that you're eligible for! :) lol! Maybe they'll finance you to buy a house and pay the first year's mortgage for you too! You should check into your options. :) hahahahaha!
Really, though...it sounds like you've been busy lately! Don't worry about the job-thing...it will come! Don't settle for less....like the before and after-school job. If you don't like it before you start....you probably won't. Stress is not good in this case. :) (My humble opinion) So, Good for you not taking that job! :)
The ESL class sounds like a rewarding time! I hope the fliers were written in Japanese! If not, that could be part of the reason why not too many people showed up. heehee :D (I crack myself up!)
I just tore down my gardens yesterday. It's starting to get cold (lows in the 30's at night), so I harvested the green tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and zucchini. Tore out the greenbean vines too.
School's going strong, but I'm finding not a lot of time at home. Oh well....things will settle down soon I think.
Jamin's sanding down the Ford. He got a canopy for it off of craig's list and then customized the windows into metal hinged doors. He's going to paint the whole thing white and then get his business logo and contact information put on by the same company that did Dave's recent one.
Cheryl and I are still at the gym by 6 am for either swim or spin (cycling) class...training for August's triathlon. Cheryl's picking up how to swim really well! :)
I can't think of anything else right now....
So, thanks for posting! I really enjoy reading your up-dates. It's the last thing I check at night before I shut down the computer. :) (No guilt or anything...just letting you know that I look forward to your up-dates).
Have a great weekend!

Ya, Joy, I wouldn't worry too much about the job thing either. Kyle is probably right, the Lord has something better in store for you.
David has been home alot lately and has been working on the property. You would not recognize the place. We tore down the garden and expanded it to 3x the original size. The plan is for Jeni and I to grow stuff to take to the farmers' markets next year.
The green houses are almost ready for the plastic to be put on.
If you think about it, pray for David to have some work. I know that the Lord has provided the extra time we have needed to get the greenhouses up and the garden ready for next year. He does all things well!
Love ya.
