KONBANWA!

For those wondering... my title post means GOOD EVENING in Japanese! I had been asked how my Japanese language classes went, so I wanted to inform you all that it was great. I learned basic Japanese vocabulary (some I already knew from friends teaching me) and other helpful phrases for when I am out in town. For example, "ikura des ka?" means, "how much is it?" Haha... which is good for me to know since I like to shop. And it comes in handy when bargaining. ;) I also learned how the Japanese don't have the 'F' sound. They use 'H' sounds. Like... the word coffee is pronounced cohii. Very similar to English, just with the letter 'H' not 'F'. I also learned how to count (to ten, at least) which has been fun to practice. I taught it to Kyle so we practice saying our cell phone numbers in Japanese which consists of eleven numbers. However, they have different sets of numbers that are used to count different items. For example, when ordering food, you do not say you want 'ichi' (1) item, you tell them you want 'hitotsu', which also means (1). So as you can see, it can get confusing. But, we get by as far as ordering food. Ask us to count anything else, say for instance multiple sheets of paper or a bunch of pencils, I couldn't tell ya because they have a whole other counting system for different items. AGGgghh!

Anyways, hopefully, I'll be able to take the second class which is in November. In this last class, we briefly went over word structures and proper subject/verb placement. In the second class they go more into learning the proper grammar as well as more vocabulary words. It will be fun!

Siyonara! (Goodbye!)
