The past couple of weeks have been very busy. Kyle and I finally got all of our stuffed packed and shipped to Okinawa. We left North Carolina on January 20th. We have been here in Washington state staying with Kyle's family. The day we got here there was snow everywhere! And as I write this, the snow is coming down pretty hard. I do not remember the last time I had a white Christmas... if ever. So this is pretty exciting for me.
The reality of moving to Okinawa hit me pretty hard the day we left North Carolina. Everyone was there. Mom, Dad, Grandma/pa, Rachel, Jon. Even some friends from college came to see me and Kyle off. I am not going to lie, it was a pretty heart-wrenching experience. I did not think it was going to be so hard. But seeing my family and friends waving goodbye to me as we boarded the plane was tough. There were tears shed, but I know it won't be the last time I see them. I am glad we are here in Washington for a couple of weeks before we head over to Okinawa. I think it might make it a little easier to leave. However, I know it will still be a scary/nervous time. I try not to think about it too much.
I am enjoying the time here with Kyle's family and soaking it all in before we have to go over. Tomorrow is Christmas and it will be the first time I have spent Christmas away from my family. It will be different, but I have a new family now. Kyle is my family. So I am very thankful I get to spend Christmas with him. I have lots to be thankful for. God has blessed Kyle and me with so much; I could not ask for more. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!!
